BOULEVARD SOCIAL CLUB SCHEDULE:

Thursday, May 17
Dr. Dog
After long hours practicing in basements, performing in barns, and tweaking knobs on cassette four track machines, Dr. Dog was officially established in 1999 with the release of a 35 track album, The Psychedelic Swamp. The band has released several albums since their debut and even earned a spot on the Billboard 200. Dr. Dog most recently released Be the Void in February 2012, featuring harder beats and louder guitars than on previous records.

Thursday, May 24
The Henry Clay People

The band's latest work, Twenty-Five for the Rest of Our Lives, is scheduled for release on June 26, 2012.

Thursday, May 31
K.Flay
You may not expect one of the most compelling new voices in hip hop to wield dual psychology and sociology degrees from Stanford University or find inspiration in the buttoned-up world of indie rock, but for K.Flay, defying expectations is simply part of the game. K.Flay is a one-woman whirlwind, creating beats, singing, rapping, playing guitar and serving as her own producer in the studio, methodically infusing her hip hop swagger with a dose of sonic exploration.

Thursday, June 14
White Denim
Four-piece band White Denim creates forward- thinking, freewheeling rock sweetened with a psychedelic swirl. In 2011, the band released its fourth full-length album, D, followed by its fifth EP, Takes Place in Your Work Space.

Thursday, June 21
Elan Atias
After an extensive global tour as lead singer for The Wailers, a critically acclaimed major label album release, and features on major motion picture soundtracks, Elan has established his unparalleled organic musical talents. Now on the verge of the releasing his second solo album We Are, Elan is back on the road and back in the public eye. The entire album is acoustic, and is stripped down to genuinely showcase his voice paired with upbeat melodies that promote a 'one love' feel.

Thursday, June 28
Terraplane Sun
Hailing from Venice Beach, California, 5-piece blues rock outfit, Terraplane Sun, has honed a swampy southern delta feel reminiscent of the 1960's California Sound. After releasing its 2011 critically acclaimed sophomore album, Coyote, the band completed a new six-song EP that includes "Get Me Golden," which was featured in Citibank's national television ad campaign and Columbia Pictures feature film, "21 Jump Street", as well as Lionsgate feature film, "What To Expect When You're Expecting."

Thursday, July 5
B.J. the Chicago Kid
B.J. the Chicago Kid is an explosive, yet mature, soulful artist gifted with an incredibly powerful voice. He released his first album, Pineapple Now-Laters, in early 2012.

Thursday, July 12
Band of Heathens
Since emerging as a favorite new live band out of Austin TX in the late 2000's, Band of Heathens has toured relentlessly, building a devoted following and landing on some of the finest stages in music. Their most recent album, Top Hat Crown & The Clapmaster's Son spiked the band's already potent punch with a dash of jammy psychedelia.

Thursday, July 19
AWOLNATION
AWOLNATION began as a creative outlet for songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Aaron Bruno, allowing him to blend genres as he wanted in a style reminiscent of Beck, blending live instrumentation, electronic elements, and slick production into an electro-pop hybrid that draws from the whole of pop music. In 2011, AWOLNATION made its full-length debut, Megalithic Symphony, featuring hits "Sail" and "Not Your Fault."

Thursday, July 26
Aloe Blacc
E. Nathaniel Dawkins (aka Aloe Blacc) first began playing trumpet in elementary school, and continued with the instrument throughout high school. There he also independently released Imaginary Friends, produced by DJ Exile, with whom he would go on to form the hip-hop group Emanon. In 2005 Emanon's full-length debut, The Waiting Room, was released, followed in 2006 by his first solo album, Shine Through. In 2010 Blacc released Good Things, featuring the hit single "I Need a Dollar" along with a cover version of the Velvet Underground's "Femme Fatale."

Thursday, Aug. 9
Yellow Ostrich
Yellow Ostrich is the solo project of the Chairs' frontman Alex Schaaf, who makes lo-fi indie pop on his four-track recorder. Schaaf released a full-length album, Wild Comfort, in January 2010. It was quickly followed by a series of EPs that were made available for free download. Yellow Ostrich's sophomore album, The Mistress, featuring the song "Mary," followed in 2011. In 2012, Yellow Ostrich returned with Strange Land.

Thursday, Aug. 16
Fun.
Fun. is what happens when three extraordinarily talented musicians come together to create something altogether new and wonderful. The trio melds a stunning array of diverse inspirations into an irresistible collection of freewheeling pop songcraft. "We Are Young," from the band's sophomore album, Some Nights, featured vocals by Janelle Monáe and reached number three on the Billboard Hot 100.

Thursday, Aug. 23
Polica
The recently formed Minneapolis-based band known as Polica made their musical debut with the February 2012 release of Give You the Ghost. Rolling Stone describes the band's LP as the "sound of heartbreak and celebration happening simultaneously," and notes how frontwoman Channy Casselle's "…focused, tender voice cascades over dense fields of minor-key electronics, backed by funked-up bass and a swarm of percussion."

Thursday, Aug. 30
The Mad Caps / Dude City
Two-headed monster The Mad Caps bring a stripped-down, revved-up brand of bluesy rock and roll with an appeal crossing many generational and musical barriers. It's not uncommon at a Mad Caps show to see an elderly Elvis Presley fan dancing feverishly next to a 25-year-old fist-pumping rocker in a Motorhead shirt. Because with singer/guitarist Ted Rader's powerful vocals and raunchy fret-work, and drummer Jon Real's infectious, dance-worthy grooving, The Mad Caps offer a little something for everyone. The Mad Caps were voted "Best Original Local Rock Band" by the staff of the Las Vegas Review-Journal in 2012.

Local Las Vegas rock outfit Dude City has come a long way since their debut self-titled album recorded in the winter of 2008. With a new album, Leavin', cross-country gigs and changes to the band's original lineup, Dude City is churning out the rock and roll love like never before. Backed by Devil's Tower Records, this quartet of three men and one Bulgarian woman have found a refined, dynamic and character-driven way to convey music that some of today's mainstream artists have not yet mastered.

Thursday, Sept. 6
Barcelona
Hailing from Seattle, Barcelona's piano-driven melodies are a refreshing assortment of stadium-sized anthems and reflective ballads. Citing influential bands like U2, Lovedrug and Copeland as influencers, Barcelona's album Absolutes has crafted a vibrant lyricism rarely found among today's top artists. Frontman Brian Fennell's achingly fragile voice is an instrument of its own, but accompanied with his skills on the ivory keys, Chris Bristol's delicate guitar and Rhett Stonelake's pulsating drums, Barcelona's atmospheric sound fills every venue like no other indie rock band before.

Thursday, Sept. 20
Ryan Leslie
Born in Washington, DC and raised in eight cities across two continents, Ryan Leslie has spent the last seven years producing records for a myriad of artists and releasing two award-winning albums of his own, Ryan Leslie and Transition. Leslie was named a Grammy "Best Contemporary R&B Album" Nominee in 2011 as well as a BET "Best Male R&B Artist" Nominee and "Best New Artist" Nominee in 2009.
